Upper Arlington's girls soccer team shut out Dublin Jerome 2-0 on the road Sept. 2, adding another convincing win to the Golden Bears' title defense.

Paige McCandless and Brynlee Peterkoski each scored for Upper Arlington, according to 270-315 Sports, which covered the match on-site at Dublin Jerome. Both goals came after halftime, which ended 0-0.

The result was the latest test in a schedule head coach Jared Dombrowski's squad built to challenge itself. Upper Arlington opened the season with a 3-0 win over New Albany on Aug. 25 and followed it by going into Jerome's home stadium and leaving with a shutout.

Dublin Jerome entered the match as a formidable opponent. The Celtics posted a 12-2-4 record last season and claimed their fourth consecutive district title, according to a 270-315 Sports preseason profile. Jerome also beat Hilliard Bradley 4-1 on Aug. 27.

Head coach Georgi Petrov built his roster around All-American Blake Sobczak, adding freshman Avery Decker and senior Gabby Wesolowski to complement her. "Everyone watches Blake, so we will share the ball and make her difficult to be marked," Petrov said in an Aug. 7 preseason profile.

UA's defense held Sobczak and the rest of the Celtics scoreless through 80 minutes.

Upper Arlington won the Division I state title on Nov. 8, 2025, the first girls soccer state championship in school history. The program, a 10-time district champion, scheduled top competition across the state this fall to prepare for another postseason run.

The Golden Bears showed Wednesday they can grind through a scoreless first half against a quality opponent and still find the goals to win. McCandless and Peterkoski delivered when it mattered, and the back line did not break.
