Grandview Heights football fans get a free home preview of the new-look Bobcats on Aug. 13, after the athletic department moved the preseason scrimmage against West Jefferson from an away game to Bobcat Stadium.

Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

Admission is free.

The Grandview Heights Athletic Department announced the venue change on X on Aug. 12, without citing a reason for the flip. The scrimmage had been listed as an away contest at West Jefferson when the Bobcats' fall schedule was published Aug. 10.

Thursday marks the first game-setting look at the team under first-year head coach Shawn Hinkle, 56, who was elevated from quarterbacks and outside linebackers coach after Jason Peters stepped down following 19 seasons. Peters compiled a 112-91 record with eight playoff appearances before leaving for Findlay Liberty-Benton.

Hinkle's last head-coaching stint ended a decade ago. He went 24-28 across stops at Canal Winchester and Northridge between 2011 and 2016, according to the Columbus Dispatch. He inherits a program coming off a 7-4 season, its third consecutive winning year, despite injuries that sidelined four-star running back Henry Ohlinger, now at Indiana.

The scrimmage unfolds at a stadium in the early stages of a $25 million K-12 Athletic Complex renovation that broke ground in May. The project will eventually bring new turf fields, expanded locker rooms, a press box and a Victory Plaza. The field will carry the name Mirolo Field after a $350,000 gift from the Mirolo Charitable Foundation.

Athletic director Logan Dunn told CityScene Magazine in March that his goal is to "set the standard of what an athletic department looks like, not just a division six athletic department."

The regular-season home opener follows on Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. against Centennial.
