The Columbus Turkey Trot is heading back to Upper Arlington's Shops on Lane Avenue on Thanksgiving morning with a new course and a milestone anniversary.
The annual race, presented by Chase Bank, will mark its 40th year on Thursday, Nov. 26 at 1675 W. Lane Ave. Proceeds benefit Easterseals of Central and Southeast Ohio, which provides services for people with disabilities.
This year brings a redesigned 4-mile "out and back" route that turns around in front of Ohio State University's Ohio Stadium. Runners who prefer a shorter distance can choose the approximately-2.4-mile Walk N' Talk, which passes through the Ohio State Waterman Agriculture and Natural Resources Complex. A virtual participation option is also available.
The Dick's Sporting Goods Tot Trot, a 100-yard dash for young children, starts at 8:30 a.m. The main event follows at 9 a.m.
The race website describes the Walk N' Talk as "ideal for family and friends who prefer to take their time as they enjoy a morning of fun and exercise."
Every finisher receives a race shirt, a custom medal and a certificate redeemable for a 12-inch Domino’s pizza. Skyline Chili dogs will be served at the finish line.
Registration is open at ColumbusTurkeyTrot.org. Easterseals Central and Southeast Ohio posted on Facebook that an automatic $5 discount applied until Nov. 1. The official RunSignup page currently shows $60 for the main race, Walk N’ Talk and virtual race, and $25 for the Tot Trot.
The city of Upper Arlington's event calendar lists the Turkey Trot and describes it as "an annual Thanksgiving morning tradition for the whole family."
The Shops on Lane Avenue sit at the border of Upper Arlington and Ohio State's campus, putting the start line within a short drive for most Upper Arlington and Grandview Heights residents.
