Grandview Heights is getting a new sit-down Mexican restaurant in fall 2026.
Abraham Macias, who owns Fronteras Mexican Cuisine on East Broad Street with five siblings, told Columbus Underground the family plans to open a second Fronteras location in Grandview. He did not provide a specific address or opening date beyond "the fall."
No address has been announced.
The announcement came as the Macias family opened KVIDA Modern Mexican Bar at 119 E. Fifth Ave. in Italian Village on Aug. 27. That restaurant occupies the former Zaftig Brewing space, which had sat empty since 2023.
The family business includes Abraham and his siblings Abigail, Amalia, Esteban, Onecimo and Jose Macias. Their original Fronteras Mexican Cuisine operates at 6608 E. Broad St. in Columbus, where the restaurant bills itself as "Tacos-Tequila-Wine."
No building permit, lease filing, or Grandview Heights city record confirming the second location has surfaced publicly. The announcement rests on Abraham Macias's statement to Columbus Underground reporter Ashley Kimmel.
The family hinted at plans for KVIDA on social media as early as January before opening the Italian Village location on Aug. 27. KVIDA features dishes drawing from Mexican, Puerto Rican, Colombian, Venezuelan, Peruvian and Cuban cuisines, along with a tequila-focused cocktail bar. Its grand opening celebration is scheduled for Sept. 4 and 5.
Residents interested in the existing Fronteras can find it online at fronterasttw.com. Details on the Grandview location, including an address and specific opening timeline, have not yet been made public.
