Nearly 900 Grandview Heights residents filled out a parks survey this summer, and the city is ready to show what it learned.
The second public meeting for the city's Parks & Recreation Master Plan is set for Sept. 1 at 6 p.m. at 1661 Goodale Blvd., according to a city announcement. Staff will present compiled results from the survey and a June 4 Open House, then lead interactive activities aimed at shaping the future of parks, programs and events.
The survey launched June 4 alongside the Open House at Wyman Woods Shelter House and stayed open for 30 days. The city described the Open House as well attended, with participants providing input through hands-on activities.
What the plan covers
City Council, led by Mayor Greta Kearns, approved funding for the master plan on Feb. 9, and the planning firm MKSK, with support from PROS Consulting, kicked off work in mid-February. The effort is Grandview Heights' first comprehensive parks plan since 2007, when a previous study focused primarily on infrastructure and facilities.
This time, the scope is broader. The plan will examine the condition and use of existing parks, recreation programming, the future of the former City Hall site, connections to regional initiatives including the LinkUs Initiative and the Heritage Trail Project, and long-term financial sustainability for the parks system.
A steering committee of community stakeholders is advising the process. The plan wraps up in December.
How to participate
The Sept. 1 meeting is the second of three planned public engagement sessions. A third is scheduled for Nov. 17. Residents can RSVP at grandviewheights.recdesk.com and sign up for project updates through GH311 at grandviewheights.gov by selecting "Parks Master Plan" under subscriptions.
