Upper Arlington will host a public open house on Henderson Road's planned redesign Sept. 10. The event runs 6 to 8 p.m. at the Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road.

The city's planning team will present updates on a feasibility study now testing how the Envision Henderson Corridor Plan could translate into physical road and streetscape improvements. Attendees can ask questions and offer feedback on the project's direction, according to the city's event listing.

The study is led by engineering firm Burgess & Niple with support from planning firm MKSK. It evaluates potential changes to intersection configurations, pedestrian and bicycle connections, utility burial, landscaping, access management and safety enhancements. The study area stretches from Stonehaven Drive and Chevy Chase Court west to Reed Road east.

City Council unanimously adopted the Envision Henderson Corridor Plan in March 2025 after a year-long engagement process. More than 900 community members participated, generating over 3,500 comments and ideas about the corridor's future, according to the city's project page.

Henderson Road sits on the boundary between Upper Arlington and Columbus. The city describes it as the last major business district within UA with potential for significant change.

Upper Arlington now controls the Henderson Road right-of-way to the north-side property lines, enabling the feasibility study to test major roadway concepts. The city is pursuing multiple grant opportunities to help fund improvements. Major construction is anticipated to begin in the early 2030s. No cost estimate has been released.

Residents who cannot attend the Sept. 10 open house will be able to access meeting materials and an online survey on the Envision Henderson project website afterward, according to the city's September/October UA Insight newsletter.

City Council will take up related business four days later. The Sept. 14, council meeting at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Services Center includes a presentation on the proposed Five Points Intersection Improvements and resolutions of support for Henderson Road and Zollinger Road improvements.
