Marble Cliff Village Council will hold its first regular meeting since the Aug. 11 derecho on Aug. 17, at 7 p.m. at Village Hall, 1600 Fernwood Ave.

The storm produced wind gusts up to 82 mph across the Columbus area and knocked out power to roughly 100,000 AEP Ohio customers at its peak, according to Axios Columbus. As of Aug. 12, AEP reported around 80,000 Central Ohio customers still without power, according to ABC 6. By Aug. 14, more than 27,000 AEP Ohio customers remained without service, per Renewable Energy World.

Mayor Kent Studebaker's report includes an AEP update as a listed agenda item, signaling the village plans to address the utility's restoration timeline and any remaining outages in Marble Cliff. His report also includes an update on the Cambridge Boulevard Improvements Project, a major village infrastructure initiative.

The 10-item agenda covers several other matters:

  • Variance hearing: A lot coverage variance application for 1221 Cambridge Blvd.
  • Consent agenda: Approval of minutes from the July 20 regular meeting, plus police, fire and permit reports for July.
  • Finance: A July 2026 finance report and Resolution R-2674-25, described as an Ohio Public Works Commission "Resolution of Intent – Administrative Changes."
  • Old business: Third reading of Ordinance O-2744-26, which would remove the Beautification Board (§32.01) from the village code. The ordinance had its first reading June 16 and second reading July 20. If approved on third reading Monday, the ordinance would eliminate the board.
  • New business: First reading of Ordinance O-2745-26, which would remove Chapter 156 (Certification of Local Government) from the village code.
  • Community events: Updates on the Marble Cliff Homecoming and the Marble Cliff Mile.
