Franklin County residents can claim up to $15 in free Uber or Lyft ride credits over the Halloween weekend. The Ohio Traffic Safety Office program covers Oct. 29 through Nov. 2 to keep impaired drivers off the road.

The Ohio Traffic Safety Office, a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety, launched its Project Plan Ahead program for the Halloween period, according to WSYX/ABC6. Credits run from 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, through 3 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2.

Franklin County is one of seven Ohio counties in the program. The others are Butler, Cuyahoga, Hamilton, Lucas, Montgomery and Summit.

Rides must start or end in one of those counties, according to the program's website. Riders cannot schedule a pickup in advance. The $15 voucher applies to an eligible, on-demand Uber or Lyft ride between 5 p.m. and 3 a.m. during the promotion.

Credits are available while supplies last.

The safety office reported that Ohio saw 19 people killed in fatal crashes statewide during the five-day Halloween period in 2025, according to WSYX. Thirteen of those crashes involved impaired driving. Twelve involved drugs or a combination of alcohol and drugs.

The ride credits overlap with local trick-or-treat nights. Upper Arlington holds Beggar's Night on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 6 to 8 p.m., according to the city. Upper Arlington Police will patrol neighborhoods as part of their annual Pumpkin Patrol. Grandview Heights scheduled trick-or-treat for Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m., according to the city's event listing.
