Upper Arlington's field hockey team beat Olentangy Liberty 3-1 on Sept. 2, according to 270-315 Sports. The official UAHS Athletics account confirmed the result.
The win is the latest in a string of early-season victories for the Golden Bears.
Season context
UA claimed the 2026 TWHS Field Hockey Blood Drive Tournament with a 1-0 win over Thomas Worthington on Aug. 9. That opponent looms large in the program's recent history. Thomas Worthington beat the Golden Bears 3-1 in the 2025 OHSAA state championship on Nov. 1, 2025, ending UA's postseason run last fall.
The Bears opened regular-season play against Ottawa Hills on Aug. 17 at the Marv, UA's home venue where spectators were allowed but no stands were available. UA then shut out Dublin Coffman 3-0 on Aug. 26 before Wednesday's win over Olentangy Liberty.
Bunker pacing the offense
Senior Sloane Bunker has led UA's attack through the early weeks. Bunker scored two goals in the season opener against Ottawa Hills and added two more in a 3-2 win over Hudson, including the game-winner in overtime.
Bunker was nominated for Girls Athlete of the Week earlier this season. She has committed to play field hockey at Miami (Ohio).
UA's next opponent has not been announced.
