The Upper Arlington Police Division is inviting anyone considering a law enforcement career to tour its headquarters, meet officers and learn about the hiring process at a recruitment open house on Sept. 9.
The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road, the same building where the division has sworn in new officers over the past year.
The city's current police officer application window, which opened Aug. 18, closes the following day, Sept. 10 at 11:59 p.m. That gives attendees one final night to submit an application after seeing the operation firsthand.
Tour, timeline and next steps
According to the city's event listing, the open house will let prospective applicants tour division facilities, ask questions about the hiring timeline and get a sense of the department's day-to-day work. The division described the event as geared toward people "seriously considering a career" with UAPD.
Candidates who apply and advance will face an invitation-only Physical Ability Test on Sept. 12. The full selection process can take up to six months, with an anticipated hire date of early 2027.
Pay and eligibility
The posted 2027 salary range is $77,801 to $121,913 annually. Both entry-level candidates and lateral transfers from other agencies are eligible. Entry-level applicants must complete a written exam through the National Testing Network, while lateral transfers currently serving in good standing for at least one year may waive that requirement.
Experienced officers can start at a higher pay step.
Recent hiring activity
Chief Keith Hall's division has been actively adding officers. In May 2026, UAPD swore in lateral officers Andrew Decker, Isaac Parham and Micah Schuster at the Municipal Services Center. Officer Justin McKee is set to graduate from the Westerville Police Academy in October. In August 2025, the division welcomed lateral transfers Cole Harms and Michael Haas along with Officer Dominic Cesaro, a graduate of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Training Academy.
