Upper Arlington residents have until Sept. 11 to complete the city's Master Plan survey, which covers land use, housing, economic development and transportation priorities.

The city's online survey opened Aug. 21 and is the second in a series tied to the broader Master Plan Update. The first survey, focused on parks and recreation, drew 1,279 responses. This one covers broader ground.

The Master Plan, originally developed in 2001 and last updated in 2013, guides land use decisions, public investments and city policy. The current update also includes a Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan, building on a version completed in 2017, and an Urban Forestry Plan for the city's tree canopy.

This round asks residents to weigh in on housing, economic development, transportation and mobility. It also addresses external pressures like emerging technologies and climate impacts, according to the city's announcement.

The City of Upper Arlington posted a reminder on X on Aug. 29, urging residents to take the survey before the deadline.

Before the survey closes, residents have several chances to engage in person. A public meeting is set for 6–8 p.m. Sept. 2 at Bob Crane Community Center, 3200 Tremont Road, where residents can meet the planning team and the Master Plan Steering Committee. That committee has been meeting since at least May, when it held a working session at the same location, according to city records.

The city also plans "Pop-Up on the Go" events at the Upper Arlington Labor Day Arts Festival on Monday, Sept. 7, and the Upper Arlington Farmers Market on Wednesday, Sept. 9.

City Manager Steve Schoeny stressed the value of resident input when the survey series launched in July. "The Bob Crane Community Center stands out as prime example of what can be achieved when residents are an integral part of a strategic planning process … From beginning to end, residents helped shape this life-changing investment in our health, wellbeing and community identity," Schoeny said in the city's July 17 announcement opening the parks and recreation survey.

The survey is available at ohmplanning.typeform.com/UAMasterPlan. Two more surveys follow this fall: a Bob Crane Community Center Satisfaction Survey open Sept. 21 through Oct. 9 and a City Facilities Accessibility Survey in October.
