Franklin County Public Health (FCPH) will spray for mosquitoes in all Upper Arlington neighborhoods north of Zollinger Road on Aug. 31, starting at approximately 9 p.m.

The spraying follows positive West Nile Virus detections in gravid traps in the area, according to a city notice posted Aug. 27. The operation will continue overnight into Tuesday morning, weather permitting.

Monday's treatment is the second confirmed FCPH mosquito spraying in Upper Arlington this month. On Aug. 24, the county sprayed areas north of McCoy Road and all areas south of Zollinger Road, ABC 6 reported. That operation was also triggered by positive West Nile test results.

The Aug. 24 event covered the band of UA between McCoy Road and Zollinger Road, plus everything south of Zollinger. Monday's spraying targets the remaining section: everything north of Zollinger Road. Together, the two operations cover the full city.

The city said it received notice from FCPH of the Monday spraying plans. The UA Alert Center page for the event is titled "Mosquito Spraying - Upper Arlington North & Central."

Spraying is weather-dependent. No rescheduling information has been announced if rain delays the Monday operation.

No named FCPH spokesperson has commented publicly on the Aug. 31 event. The city's notice relays the county health department's plans.
