How the rankings work
U.S. News ranked 46,713 elementary schools nationwide. The rankings use state assessment data from the 2023-2024 school year. Schools are ranked at the state and district level only; there is no national ranking.
Four factors carry equal weight: math proficiency, math performance, reading proficiency and reading performance. Half the formula measures raw test scores. The other half factors in socioeconomic demographics.
