Two Central Buckeye League (CBL) teams with identical 7-2 records meet Tuesday, Sept. 22, when Grandview Heights girls soccer hosts Columbus School for Girls at Bobcat Stadium for Senior Night.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m., and a pre-game ceremony will honor the Bobcats' graduating seniors.
The matchup carries weight in the CBL standings. The eight-school league includes Bishop Ready, Bexley, Buckeye Valley, Columbus Academy, Columbus School for Girls, Grandview Heights, Whitehall and Worthington Christian. A win for either side could separate two teams that have tracked each other through the first nine games of the season.
Grandview opened the year with a 4-0 league win over Bishop Ready on Aug. 19 in Columbus, 270-315 Sports reported. The Bobcats lost to Mariemont on Aug. 22, then beat Logan 2-1 on Aug. 27.
By Sept. 2, the offense was firing on all cylinders. Charlie Ferris scored twice and Angelina Aquilo, Molly Herlihy, Mary Herlihy and Kara Reardon each added a goal in a 6-0 win over Buckeye Valley on Youth Night, according to GH Athletics. Molly Herlihy recorded two assists, with Mary Herlihy, Aquilo, Lilly Fisher and Alexa Karst each adding one. Goalkeeper Kenzie Gladman made three saves, while Buckeye Valley keeper Mooney was forced into 12.
That Buckeye Valley win was the Bobcats' third league victory of the season. Grandview has posted at least three CBL wins and holds a winning record heading into the stretch run.
Both teams enter Tuesday's game at 7-2. The Grandview Heights Athletic Department posted the matchup on X, urging fans to come celebrate the seniors in what it called a "CBL matchup" between evenly matched squads.
Kickoff is 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bobcat Stadium, 1587 W. Third Ave.
