Oakland Avenue in Grandview Heights closes at 7 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, for the 47th annual Great Pumpkin Run. The race sends runners and walkers through neighborhood streets on a closed-road course near Larson Middle School.
Grandview Heights Parks & Recreation hosts the event, which features a Tiny Tot Pumpkin Trot at 8:30 a.m. and a timed 5K at 9 a.m., according to the event's registration page. Both races start and finish near Larson Middle School at 1240 Oakland Ave.
Beyond Oakland Avenue, traffic will be temporarily restricted on surrounding streets during the race, according to a city social media post that included a map of affected roads. The post directs drivers to a map of affected streets. The course reopens to traffic at 10:30 a.m.
The Tiny Tot Pumpkin Trot is free for children 6 and under. The first 100 registered youth receive an event shirt and goody bag. As of Oct. 22, 75 spots remained.
The 5K costs $44.79 to register. All participants are timed, and the first 450 participants receive an event shirt, according to the registration page.
Proceeds support Grandview Heights recreational and educational programs.
