Grandview Heights has named Alyx Adams head coach of its varsity softball program.

The Grandview Heights Athletic Department announced the hire on Sept. 13. Adams is also joining Grandview Heights High School as an intervention specialist, according to a Grandview Heights Schools Instagram post.

Adams brings a decorated playing career to the Bobcats' dugout. At Parkway High School in Rockford, Ohio, she earned four First Team All-Midwest Athletic Conference selections, four First Team All-District honors and Honorable Mention All-State recognition as a shortstop and outfielder. She went on to play at Capital University in Columbus, where she won the program's Rookie of the Year award and earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC honors before graduating in 2021 with a degree in early childhood education.

After college, Adams ran an independent softball hitting and fielding instruction business. She most recently worked as an intervention specialist at Westerville City Schools, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Adams takes over a program on the rise. The Bobcats finished the 2025-26 season 20-8 overall and 9-3 in the Central Buckeye League, finishing third. Grandview Heights reached the OHSAA Division VI district final in May, beating Elgin 15-5 in the semifinal before falling to West Jefferson in the district final. The athletic department noted at the time that the team was chasing the first district title in program history.

Six Bobcats earned All-CBL recognition after the season: Ejheni Mdivanian and Charlie Enderle on the first team, Madelyn Smith and Caroline Harwood on the second team, and Tatum Lusher and Chloe McKnight as honorable mentions. Talent returns.

Athletic director Logan Dunn, who took over the department in the summer of 2025 after Brad Bertani's retirement, has been vocal about raising the profile of Grandview Heights athletics. In a March CityScene Magazine profile, Dunn said his goal was "to set the standard of what an athletic department looks like, not just a division six athletic department."

The OHSAA softball season begins in the spring. No schedule for the Bobcats' 2027 season has been released.
