Grandview Heights residents have one more chance to shape the city's first parks and recreation master plan in nearly 20 years.
The city will hold its third and final community engagement meeting for the Parks & Recreation Master Plan on Nov. 17 at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 1525 Goodale Blvd., according to the city's website.
The plan will guide how Grandview Heights invests in and manages its parks system for the next two decades, according to the city. It replaces a 2007 master plan that focused mainly on infrastructure and park facilities. The updated version expands the scope to include programming, operations and access for all residents, according to the city's master plan page.
City Council approved funding for the project on Feb. 9. The planning firm MKSK is leading the work, with support from PROS Consulting, a parks and recreation planning specialist. A steering committee of community stakeholders has been advising the process.
The plan will address the condition and use of existing parks, recreation programming, the future of the former City Hall site, connections to regional initiatives including the LinkUs Initiative and the Heritage Trail Project, and financial sustainability for the parks system.
The planning process began in mid-February and has moved through three phases covering facility analysis, needs assessment and community visioning. The Nov. 17 meeting falls in the final phase: master plan development. A finished plan is expected in December, though the city notes that timeline could shift.
The city has held two public meetings and two community surveys during the process. A community survey launched alongside a June 4 open house collected nearly 900 responses over 30 days. A second public meeting was held Sept. 1 at the city's new Parks & Recreation Facility at 1661 Goodale Blvd., followed by a second survey.
That facility opened in January after a December 2025 ribbon cutting. It has become a gathering point for the planning effort. Mayor Greta Kearns praised the space in a podcast appearance, saying it had introduced "a wide range of new programs and events."
Residents can sign up for master plan updates through GH311 at grandviewheights.gov or contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 614-488-3111.
