Tremont Elementary School families can start lining up pledges before the Upper Arlington school's annual Walk-A-Thon on Oct. 9.

The Tremont PTO set an $18,000 fundraising goal for the daytime event, according to the organization's Walk-A-Thon page. Students will collect pledges from family, friends and neighbors for laps walked on the school's turf field during three grade-level time slots:

  • Kindergarten and 1st grade: 9:00–9:30 a.m.
  • 3rd and 4th grade: 9:45–10:15 a.m.
  • 2nd and 5th grade: 10:25–10:55 a.m.

Families can return donations in their student's envelope or give online.

That evening, the PTO hosts its Fall Fest from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., according to the Tremont PTO calendar. The PTO described the event in a Sept. 11 newsletter as a favorite night for families with games, activities, food and school spirit. The organization did not specify the Fall Fest location in its materials.

The Walk-A-Thon and Fall Fest make up the PTO's main fall fundraiser. The organization said in a Sept. 18 newsletter that volunteer slots are open for parents, whether they have a little time or want a bigger role.

The PTO said it spends nearly $100,000 a year supporting more than 700 students and staff at Tremont. That money funds teacher stipends and grants, enrichment programs such as the Book Fair and Multicultural Night, and activities including Garden Club, Spelling Bee and intramurals. The Walk-A-Thon is one of several fundraisers that feed that budget.

Tremont Elementary is at 2900 Tremont Road in Upper Arlington.
