Life coach Sarah Moore wants attendees at the Tri-Village Chamber Partnership's fourth annual Be Your Best Self Conference to leave feeling uncomfortable in the best way possible.
Moore, a Columbus resident and women's coach with more than 14 years of experience, will deliver a keynote she calls a "Pump Up Session" at the conference on Aug. 27, according to the conference website. The event takes place at The Grand Event Center, 820 Goodale Blvd. in Columbus. The session blends music, small-group exercises and vulnerable community discussion into what Moore describes as a high-energy mini-retreat.
"I want people to have an experience. I don't want to just talk about what living your life and being vulnerable sounds like. I want you to experience it in real time," Moore said in an Aug. 2 interview on the chamber's Business Inspires podcast.
Moore lives in Clintonville and authored "Full of Finding the Audacity to Love Who You Are." She built her coaching practice around what she calls "soul alignment," which she defines as living so your actions reflect your values rather than performing for others' approval.
She told the podcast that people-pleasing is the most common form of perfectionism, and that when someone is aligned, even hard things feel "spacious" rather than heavy.
Moore shared three tools she'll bring to the conference: breathe deeply to shift your emotional state, call someone you trust who will listen without just agreeing, and ask yourself "What do I think?" to center your own perspective. She also practices what she calls a "feelings walk," a 12-minute loop around her block during which she names and sits with her emotions.
One attendee at a previous Moore session told her afterward: "Your session was so fun, and it was my favorite of the day. And you scared me." Moore said she took that as a compliment.
Tri-Village Chamber Partnership President and CEO Katie Ellis said on the chamber's 100th episode podcast on Aug. 3 that the conference "has really exploded," with attendees reporting "life-changing" experiences in post-event surveys.
The conference also features speakers Joe DeLoss, Dr. Alexis Yamokoski, Dr. Alaina Puff and Eric Pennington, plus raffle prizes from local businesses including The Refectory, Club Pilates, Johnson's Real Ice Cream and Row House Upper Arlington.
