Alex Mason pinned on a sergeant's badge Monday, Sept. 28, with his daughter doing the honors at a ceremony in Upper Arlington's Council Chambers.
Mason joined the Upper Arlington Police Division five years ago from the Parkersburg Police Department in West Virginia. City Manager Steve Schoeny administered the oath of office.
The city announced the promotion on its website, noting that Mason served as a patrol officer before taking on additional responsibilities as sergeant. His family and city staff attended the ceremony.
The city's announcement did not detail what unit or assignment Mason will lead in his new role.
